Purpose of This Service
This service provides general legal information to community organizations. Volunteer lawyers may answer your questions to help you better understand the law. However, they cannot provide individualized legal advice for any specific person or situation.
The information provided is for educational purposes only. It is not legal advice and does not create an attorney‑client relationship.
Not Legal Representation
Volunteer lawyers who respond through this service:
- Do not represent you, your organization, or any individual you assist.
- Do not act as legal counsel for anyone involved.
- Will not contact third parties, write letters, file documents, attend meetings, or appear in court.
- Only provide general information about the law.
Using this service does not establish an attorney‑client relationship with you or anyone you serve.
Deadlines and Time-Sensitive Matters
We cannot guarantee responses before any deadlines, hearings, court dates, or statute‑of‑limitations periods.
If the legal matter is time-sensitive, you should continue seeking help immediately and not wait for a volunteer lawyer’s response.
Confidentiality
All volunteer lawyers can view questions submitted by community partners to determine whether they can provide information. All volunteers are required to keep your information confidential.
They will not share what you submit unless you give permission. You are responsible for maintaining the privacy of any communications or materials you receive.
Please see our privacy policy for more details.
No Assistance if Another Lawyer Is Already Helping
If a lawyer is already assisting your organization or the individual involved with the issue you are asking about, you should seek guidance from that lawyer instead.
Accuracy of Information You Provide
The quality of general legal information depends on the accuracy of the information you share. If you provide incomplete or incorrect details, the information provided may not be useful or correct.
AI Assistance
Volunteer lawyers may use AI tools to help draft their responses. Even when they use these tools, lawyers remain responsible for the accuracy and quality of the information they provide and must follow all ethical and professional rules.
Deletion of Questions
For privacy and security, all questions, answers, and related documents are deleted three months after the question is closed. After deletion, we do not retain identifying information.
